The Bible Drills, designed for 7th-9th grade students, required youth to memorize the order of books in the Bible and several series of verses, which include scriptures that support Baptist doctrinal statements. Drillers were then quizzed on a passage or book and expected to locate it in their Bible within eight seconds...In the end, Kimberly Marti, a homeschooled freshman and member of First Baptist Church Lamar, Mo., won top honors during the Bible Drill portion of the competition. Leslie Taylor, also a homeschooled 9th-grader and member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lillington, N.C., was the runner-up.Sounds like an interesting time of competition in bible knowledge! I still prefer our method of quizzing, but something like this could be a good supplement to what we do, perhaps to remind us that the Old Testament is as worthy a source of study as the New.

National Invitational Youth Bible Drill & Speakers Tournament
This last Friday was the date of the National Invitational Youth Bible Drill and Speakers Tournament in Orlando Florida for the Florida Baptist Convention. It is not exactly the same as EFCA Bible Quizzing, but instead adds to the quizzing a series of bible drills (races to find and read out a specified verse of scripture) and speaches about commitment to Christ Jesus.
