Acts 24 Study Guide is Online

The Study Guide for Acts 24 was written by Coach Mark, and is a little more personal this week than usual. The devotional talks about some difficult times in my life, and how God did not always respond the way I expected, but always responded with mercy despite the way I first viewed it. Click on over and take a look.

Things that make you go "Hmmmmm..."

I was looking around the web when I came across this website yesterday. The idea may be an old one for all I know, but it is new to me. It is a line of "biblical action figures" with everyone from Jesus to Goliath to Job. It never occurred to me as a child to work in Biblical heroes to my adventures, but somehow I suspect that Goliath would have found a place alongside my G.I Joes in several adventures they went on. After all, a giant is useful in any time or place, right? (Unless his opponent has a sling and God on his side, of course.)

JunCTion Radio.org

Are you looking to hear some new Christian music? Are you unable to find any AM or FM stations, and can't afford those satellite radio services which provide a few channels? Why not check out JunCTionRadio.Org which is a new Connecticut-based Christian radio station on the web. If your computer can listen to Windows Media streaming (and both PCs and Macs can), then check it out. So far, I am impressed with what I have been hearing.

"God is Reel"?

Are you skilled with a video camera and interested in exercising your talents for God? You may want to check out the "God is Reel" competition.
”The “Bible Is-Reel” competition is an incredible opportunity for youth pastors to work with teens to bring the Bible to life by having them research, write, cast, direct and edit videos that tell us how they think it was in Bible times,” says Dana Simons, ZRG Director of Church and Ministry Programs. “As It Was” employs a riveting eyewitness interview technique of filming and acting to relate Bible stories in an accurate, passionate and intriguing method that entertains, educates and inspires further study of the Old Testament.
Remember, there are many ways to use your talents for God. Quizzing is just one of the more fun ways.

Quiz Team Canceled

Quiz Team is canceled for tonight. We will continue on in our schedule so please study chapter 23 for next week.

DID YOU KNOW: Who was Saint Valentine?

We celebrate Valentines Day as a greeting card holiday, or an excuse to give chocolates and flowers. But originally, it referred to "Saint Valentine". Ever wonder who Saint Valentine was?
At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as bishop of Interamna (modern Terni), and these two seem both to have suffered in the second half of the third century and to have been buried on the Flaminian Way, but at different distances from the city. In William of Malmesbury's time what was known to the ancients as the Flaminian Gate of Rome and is now the Porta del Popolo, was called the Gate of St. Valentine. The name seems to have been taken from a small church dedicated to the saint which was in the immediate neighborhood.
As you celebrate this day, remember that the original love being celebrated was the love of martyrs for their God. Not that I think God has anything against boxes of chocolate.

Treating a Bible Like an Heirloom

A Bible is often not only a piece of literature, but also a family treasure. Many Bibles have been used by families as a centralized place to record births, marriages, deaths, and other major events. This article gives some tips on taking care of it.
1. Keep your Bible in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

2. Keep the book away from heat or water sources.

3. Don't wrap it in plastic. The plastic retains moisture and promotes mold growth. Instead, wrap it in thick paper, which will keep it from getting dusty.

4. In case of repairs, use only a reputable bookbinder or restorer.

Another Graduated Quizzer's Blog

We here at the Quizzers Pad like to catch up with former quizzers, and say hello now and again. Recently, we discovered that former quizzer Johnstone has up a blog with his musings on life, cinema, and scriptwriting. Johnstone was a great quizzer, and we're glad to see him hanging around the World Wide Web.

Did you know America is a Missions Field, too?

I stumbled across this little story yesterday which shows that the Brits consider America to be a fruitful missions field for the Bible
A wave of Scripture is beginning to flow across North America as believers in more than 100 cities have expressed interest in the possibility of distributing Scripture in their communities.

“I believe CityReachers™ is part of a massive movement of the Spirit across North America, as God works to transform cities through his Word,” comments Paul Tolleson, Director of Special Ministries at the International Bible Society (IBS).

Photos of a reader’s city on the cover, local history, and testimonies by local Christians introduce the NIV New Testament or Gospel. Each printed copy or dramatised Scripture DVD invites people to discover the Bible and apply it to their lives.
As we look to the ends of the Earth for our Missions Trips, we should also remember that the Great Commissions starts at home.
