Faith Nights are testament to the church-going traditions that remain strong in the US, especially in the so-called Bible Belt states of the south. Fans who attend have a double priority: cheer for their team and cheer for the Lord while they are at it.We should not be fooled but this. While it is a nice thing for people of faith to enjoy the sport more, it is a marketing decision by the league. We can enjoy these kinds of events, but should be careful not to confuse sport with religion.

Major League Soccer hosts "Faith Nights"
In an attempt to appeal to the Bible Belt, Major League Soccer has start hosting "Faith Nights", where Christian Rock bands are brought in to open the night, players wear bible verse jerseys, and fans are encouraged to show their love of God.
