The Afghani man who converted to Christianity, and who was tried in court for having left Islam (a crime which requires death under Islamic law), has been freed by the Afghan authorities and had arrived in Italy where he has been offered assylum. There has been some fear that the man was still in danger, as Afghanistan's parliment passed a law forbidding the man from leaving the country to seek assylum. But it appears that he escaped the country before the law was passed, or before it could be enforced.
Keep praying for this man, however. It is likely that some Islamic cleric will be calling upon Italian Muslims to kill him.
