Some skeptics try to say that Paul and the apostles made up the stories about Jesus and the early church. But Acts 26, and Paul's defense before Agrippa shows the problem with that line of thinking.
Paul replied. "What I am saying is true and reasonable. The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner.
Acts 26:25-16
As you see, Paul is unashamed before Festus and Agrippa, and notes that Agippa knows everything he is talking about. And what is Agrippa's response?
Then Agrippa said to Paul, "Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?"
Acts 26:28
In other words, Agrippa recognizes the truth of his words, but is not yet ready to convert. If the apostles were saying things not generally know to be true, you would expect these witnesses to complain angrily.
