Talking Bible bringing scripture to the Illiterate

Bible translators like Wycliffe have spent decades translating the scriptures into the written word of different languages all over the world. But what about people who don't have a written word - the illiterate, the blind, and peoples who never invented a written language? Enter the Talking Bible, a new digital Bible device which reads the Bible to its listener, keeps its place between uses, and is created to feel like a storyteller presenting scripture to a listener.

A Hindu village priest insisted that he, being spiritual leader in that village, should be the one to be responsible for their Talking Bible. He promised to call the people together to listen every day. The amazing thing that happened was that the priest himself began listening and became a believer along with almost the entire village. Three months later, when the local evangelist called to check up on them, the converted village priest pointed to the small village temple. There was a chain and a padlock on the door. The temple was closed. Instead, because of the power of God’s spoken Word, many people in that village were baptized and were worshipping together, praising God and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul explained to us that faith comes by hearing and this new technology has the potential to bring faith to thousands of new people.

Today is the last day of Nationals - an event which was a life-changing experience - and the songs and speakers are likely echoing in the memories of the students who went. George Sarris has long been part of the Bible Quizzing family. He has produced 4 excellent quizzers in his children, he has entertained many meets with his "Worlds Greatest Stories" dramas, and he has come along on many occasions to cheer Trumbull on. Now, he has started on a new adventure, producing a read-thru the Bible program on Behemoth.Com. He will, over the course of the next year or so, be producing *FREE* readings from the King James Version of every book in the Bible. This could be a great resource for your family devotional time, or for a friend looking to get into the Bible without spending any hard-earned cash.

But please keep in mind, these recordings are NOT for quizzing. These are, again, KJV. Quizzing is in the New International Version, only!

Luke MP3s for Chapters 1-4

As always, Quiz Team parent George Sarris has recorded some chapters from Luke for us in an audio format. We usually provide CDs, but fewer and fewer of you are using CD players and more and more are using iPods and other MP3 players. To stay with the times, we are offering password protected MP3s as downloads here. We will still have CDs for those who need them, btu we're hoping to cut down on our costs and yours. Use the password "quizpad" without the quotes.

We have been very blessed this year to have Mr. Sarris recording his reading of the Quizzing Material for us. But sometimes it is useful to hear the Word in different voices, so that you are ready for whatever way a future Quiz Master may read the text.
