HUMOR: Whale of a Question
Not mine. From here.
A little girl spoke to her teacher about whales.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it is a very large mammal, its throat is very small.
The little girl said, "But how can that be? Jonah was swallowed by a whale."
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human. "It is physically impossible!" she said.
Undaunted, the little girl said, "Well, when I get to heaven I will ask Jonah."
To this, the teacher said, "What if Jonah went to hell?"
"Then you can ask him."

What if it snows?
It looks like snow season is going to start in earnest this Friday with a major nor'easter. If there should be any inclement weather on a Wednesday, you can either check this website or the church website to get notice if activities have been cancelled.

BIBLE NEWS: "Crusader Bible" comes to museum
Bibles historically haven't just been a record of Biblical times, but were also used to record details of the time in which they were copied or printed. A so-called "Crusader Bible", copied in the 1240s for King Louis the 9th of France, contains many fascinating scenes from Medieval life.

This week (January 14 thru January 20), please review Ephesians, Chapters 1-6.
If you want to read the chapters online, click here.
Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.
Study Tip: It was a long holiday break, but now we're back in the swing of things with weekly practices and a regular schedule. Don't struggle trying to figure out a new way of doing things, but focus on re-establishing the habits and schedule you had before the holidays. At the very least, be sure to read the chapter(s) twice every day.

HUMOR: Listen Carefully
From here.
A woman went into her kitchen to find a burglar loaded down with a bunch of stuff he was stealing from her kitchen. Not having any kind of weapon to scare him off, she raised her hand and said "Acts 2:38," and proceeded to quote scripture.
The burglar froze in place and didn't move. The woman called 911, the police arrived and were amazed to find the burglar still frozen where he stood.
"What did you say to him that kept him from moving?" they asked the woman.
She told them that she had simply said Acts 2:38 and quoted scripture.
The police chuckled and escorted the burglar out to the patrol car. "Why did the woman's quoting scripture scare you so much?" they asked.
"Scripture?" said the burglar, "I thought she said she had an ax and two 38's!"

BIBLE NEWS: Teens revere The Bible
A lot is said these days about the decline respect for church and religious traditions, but a new study suggests that The Bible remains a revered book to teens.
In "Teens State of the Bible," the Christian research powerhouse revealed staggering statistics about God's Word in light of trends proclaiming the decline of Christianity:
- Eighty-nine percent consider the Bible sacred or holy.
- Forty-one percent believe the Bible contains everything a person needs to know about living a meaningful life.
- Forty-four percent believe it has too little influence on American society.
- Thirty-eight percent believe "inspired" is the best word to describe the Bible.
