THIS WEEK: Review Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, & Philemon

The next two weeks (April 14 thru April 20), please review all books and chapters from this year.

If you want to review the books online,

Study Tip: We've only got a few weeks left until Districts.  Now is the time to shore up your knowledge of these essential books, and ensure you are ready to quiz against the other teams.  Take some time to identify which weeks you did well and which weeks you did poorly.  Study the weak spots and be ready for what's coming!

THIS WEEK: Study Philemon

The next two weeks (April 7 thru April 13), please study Colossians, Chapter 4.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: This is our last week of new material!  Review is easy in some ways, but there is nothing like "new" to engage the mind and keep you interested.  Be sure to leverage the beauty of "new" this week as you study.  And keep in mind that Philemon is only one chapter long. If you memorize this one chapter, you can tell people have memorized a whole book of the Bible!

THIS WEEK: Study Colossians 4

The next two weeks (March 31 thru April 6), please study Colossians, Chapter 4.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: Do try to study every chapter the exact same way, no matter what the content?  That may be a big mistake.  Be sure to think about the kind of chapter you're working with before you study so that you can focus on the right things.

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

REMINDER: Practices resume TONIGHT!

We'll be quizzing on Colossians 3!

Districts 2015 (April 18, 2015)

Thursday, March 17, 2016

THIS WEEK: Study Colossians 3

The next two weeks (March 17 thru March 30), please study Colossians, Chapter 3.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: "Off weeks" can be difficult for maintaining the momentum of studying.  But Easter is unusual in that we spend the week focussing intensely on scripture.  Use this time to deepen your understanding of our study text by relating it to the texts being talked about for Holy Week.

Thursday, March 10, 2016

THIS WEEK: Study Colossians 2

This week (March 10 thru March 16), please study Colossians, Chapter 2.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: Do try to study every chapter the exact same way, no matter what the content?  That may be a big mistake.  Some chapters are heavy on doctrine which lend themselves to studying keywords, while others are heavy on practical application which lend themselves on lists and sequence studies. Be sure to think about the kind of chapter you're working with before you study so that you can focus on the right things.

THIS WEEK: Study Colossians 1

This week (March 3 thru March 9), please study Colossians, Chapter 1.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: Do read through the text of scripture and find at the end that you know barely more than you did at the beginning? Do you envy those who can read it once, and be able to quiz effectively? Different people learn in different ways. Some people can do it by simply reading, others by listening. But you may be a learner who needs to really engage the text. Consider taking notes as you read - note down really interesting sections, questions that the text raises, notable phrases, etc. At the end, you will have applied not only your eyes but all the parts of your brain, and the learning may very well be far more effective. Oh, and don't forget to call, e-mail, or speak to the coaches, your parents, or the pastors to get the answers to those questions you had.

If you want to read the chapters online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

Study Tip: They say "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb."  Odds are we have several more snow days ahead of us.  Make good use of this time by firming up your studying of the book of Acts!

Study Tip: How are you doing with the these many books?  In the week-to-week grind, it can be easy to lose track of the chapters on which you may be weak.  Take a moment in the next 7 days to think about your progress and consider where you may need to do a little review.  We're going full-speed-ahead until Districts, so if you want to do any review, you need to set aside the time yourself!

THIS WEEK: Study Philippians 2

This week (February 4 thru February 10), please study Philippians, Chapter 2.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: For some people, the best way to make the Bible a priority in your life is to put it at the start of every day. Rather than waiting for after homework, dinner, or whatever else you normally put before studying, consider setting your alarm 15 minutes earlier in the morning and spending that time reading thru that week's chapter. This can set the tone for your day, and give you a chance to apply the lessons of the chapter in your daily life.

THIS WEEK: Study Philippians 1

This week (January 28 thru February 3), please study Philippians, Chapter 1.

If you want to read the chapter online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

If you'd like to read a commentary on the chapter, click here.

Study Tip: Do you learn the chapter well, but have a hard time placing questions in a real quiz where it is across multiple chapters? Creating and studying an outline of a book or chapters can be very helpful in putting it all in order in your mind. If you need an example of a good outline, this link may be helpful.

This week (January 14 thru January 20), please review Ephesians, Chapters 1-6.

If you want to read the chapters online, click here.

Click here to listen to audio of the chapter.

Study Tip: It was a long holiday break, but now we're back in the swing of things with weekly practices and a regular schedule.  Don't struggle trying to figure out a new way of doing things, but focus on re-establishing the habits and schedule you had before the holidays.  At the very least, be sure to read the chapter(s) twice every day.
