The way we work Midwinter every year, the top 5 scorers from each division will be the "starting 5" on the pads. Everyone else will be on the "bench" to come in if the starters quiz out. Here's a glimpse of how the current standings look. You still have a few weeks to improve your position!

Study Tip: Were you surprised at Homecoming how well the former quizzers did? After all, for some, it has been 20 years since they had been a quizzer! The fact is, the habits of studying and memorization you form now will last a lifetime. And the scripture you memorize now will always be with you. Remember, every day as you study, that you're not just studying for the next practice or the next quiz, you're studying for life!

Study Tip: There's going to be a huge temptation to take the next week "off" from Bible Quizzing. After all, it's Christmas and then New Years and you're going to be busy anyway. But the brain is like a muscle. If you use it, it gets stronger. If you let it rest, it gets weaker. Don't let your knowledge of the Gospel of Matthew weaken over the next two weeks! Keep working and stay strong! Midwinter is coming!

Most quiz meets tend to have more questions from the last few chapters studied, than from anywhere else. Study Tip: Christmas is now bearing down upon us, and if you're like me, you are a little bit overwhelmed with everything that has to get done. How can you fit your studying for Bible Quiz Team into the schedule? They key is to set clear and simple goals. Consider creating a to-do list for each day of tasks that must be done before bedtime, and checking them off as you go. AND make sure "study Bible Quiz Team material" is on that list! Having a list can help focus you, and keep you from accidentally drifting off into unproductive activities.

While we provide commentaries, MP3s, puzzles, lists of reference and FTV questions, scripture portions and keywords, many quizzers wind up just doing the same old thing and just read the chapters for their studying. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can become old hat after a while and you can lose the excitement that comes with new discoveries. Consider really digging into ALL of the tools at your disposal to reignite your excitement for Bible Quizzing!

Study Tip: For some people, the best way to make the Bible a priority in your life is to put it at the start of every day. Rather than waiting for after homework, dinner, or whatever else you normally put before studying, consider setting your alarm 15 minutes earlier in the morning and spending that time reading thru that week's chapter. This can set the tone for your day, and give you a chance to apply the lessons of the chapter in your daily life

BIBLE NEWS: 2012 National Bible Bee
It is good to remember that our system of Bible Quizzing and memorization isn't the only one. Recently, the 2012 National Bible Bee kicked off and hundreds of kids & teens came out to compete in learning scripture!
The fourth annual Bible Bee kicked off Wednesday in Sevierville, Tenn., where 300 qualifiers from across the U.S. began competing in events designed to test their knowledge of the Scriptures. The books that will be focused on throughout this year's competition are 1 and 2 Timothy – letters written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy, a young pastor in Ephesus.
At the local level, contestants had thoroughly studied 2 Timothy and memorized at least 25 Bible Memory passages. Children in each age division – primary, junior and senior – at the national challenge are also responsible for having thoroughly studied 1 Timothy and having memorized several hundred additional verses from throughout both the Old and New Testaments.

Study Tip: During the holiday season, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay focused on Quiz Team. Parties, concerts, plays, etc. eat more and more into your daily study time. How do you cope? First, accept the fact that your life will have competing priorities and that sometimes Quiz Team can't be #1. Second, realize that we only HAVE time if we MAKE TIME. Set aside some time every day for studying. Make it the same time, as much as possible, and try to be disciplined. Eventually, study time will become a habit, and something you won't have to work so hard to keep up.
