While the Trumbull kickoff is not for a few weeks yet, Monroe is starting off their year tonight.  Please be praying for a good turnout - we need a few more quizzers - and a great kickoff to another year of Bible Quizzing.

NEWS: Monroe Bible Quiz Team

If you've been checking your e-mail, you're probably already aware of this. But we wanted to make this official for those who might have missed it. Coach Mark and Coach Matt will be attempting to start a new Bible Quiz Team over at Beacon Hill Church in Monroe, CT for the 2012-2013 season! We presented the ministry to the church for the first time at their Ministry Fair in May, and got a lot of positive feedback and several sign-ups.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the victims of Hurricane Irene

The storm is over, but Hurricane Irene continues to be a disaster for many as hundreds of thousands are without power, and dozens lost homes or businesses to the floods. Please be praying for restoration for many, protection for the crews working to repair the damage, and wisdom for the leaders trying to lead us thru these difficult times.

Quizzing may be over, but Nationals is Not!

Remember to keep praying for safety, fun, and spiritual awakening for the students in Columbus, Ohio. Events like this can easily lead to revivals both in the town where they take place, and all the way back home. Pray that the Spirit will move, and the Lord will work in their hearts today and the remainder of the week!

Prayer Request: Lionel's surgery

Lionel is having surgery today for his injury. Please be praying that God is with him and gives him peace and comfort during the procedure, and that the doctor's hands are guided to do everything perfectly. And for a speedy recovery, so we see him back at practice as soon as possible!

Prayer Alert: Middletown Explosion

Please be praying for the victims of a natural gas explosion in Middletown, CT. Reports are still sketchy, but there appear to have been fatalities and injuries.

PRAYER ALERT: Pray for Haiti

Most of you have probably heard the news of the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti which has devastated the country. Reports coming out of the country are heartbreaking. Please be praying for the Haitian people and international efforts to bring relief.

The few things we can confirm – yes the four story Caribbean Market building is completely demolished. Yes it was open. Yes the National Palace collapsed. Yes Gov’t buildings nearby the Palace collapsed. Yes St Josephs Boys home is completely collapsed. Yes countless countless - countless other houses, churches, hospitals, schools, and businesses have collapsed. There are buildings that suffered almost no damage. Right next door will be a pile of rubble.

Prayer for Chit-Chat

From now until July 1, Chit-Chat will be down in Texas on a short-term missions trip. She'll be helping out with VBS for local kids, and doing some basic construction work. Please be praying for our fellow quizzer!

PRAYER REQUEST: Hurricane Gustav and the Gulf Coast

As you go about your Labor Day business, please take a moment to say a prayer for the residents of the Gulf Coast as they face Hurricane Gustav. Please be in prayer especially for the residents of New Orleans who are being evacuated after only really beginning to recover from Hurricane Katrina.

Pray for those who Mourn

Today is the anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in 2001. Please consider taking at least a moment today and saying a prayer for those left behind. When you lose a child or a parent or a spouse in this way, it hurts forever and the problems the death causes (no father figure, no mother figure, no helpmeet, etc.) will last a lifetime.
