Learning styles for studying
Generally speaking, there are three kinds of learning styles: Audible learners (those who learn by hearing), Visual learners (those who learn by seeing/reading), and Kinesthetic learners (those who learn by doing). Different people have different learning styles, and trying to use a study technique which works for a different style can backfire for you. If you are not sure what kind of a learner you are, click here for a quick test that can help.
Knowing your learning style can be a key to effective studying and quizzing. For example:
Knowing your learning style can be a key to effective studying and quizzing. For example:
- If you are an Audible learner, read the bible out loud or pick up an bible-on-CD for studying.
- If you are a Visual learner, spend your time reading the text silently and write our your own questions for studying. If you are a Kinesthetic learner, find a friend and go through practice quizzes together for studying, or have your parents quiz you regularly throughout the week

Quiz Team Schedule for 2007-2008
As we continue our drive toward the Quiz Team Kickoff, more and more resources will be available to you. Our next one for you to print out and put up on the fridge is the study schedule for this upcoming season. You can use this schedule - stored as a Google Spreadsheet - to plan out your work and memorization on your own calendar.
Remember, we have 5 books to study this year and nearly every chapter is shorter than those in Acts. So, every quizzer has a good chance to be a power player.

Bible knowledge is key to Outreach
Very often courses on Witnessing and Evangelism focus on learning communication techniques. However, the kind of Bible knowledge is also key to being effective in sharing your faith.
In the weeks preceding that visit, Veral had been considering attending church with his wife. But he said he had a prerequisite for that: "If I'm going to start going to church, I'm going to pray to God to have me connect with someone at church who has a real good knowledge of the Scriptures." Harper was that someone.Quizzing can be a way for you to learn scripture, and be an answer to prayer yourself, one day.
Harper was in the midst of explaining some Scriptures to the Neuschaefers when Veral realized God answered the prayer.
"I remember thinking, 'Chad is who I've been praying for -- someone with knowledge of the Bible to befriend me and try to get me encouraged to go to church," Veral said.
"When I realized this, my whole life started spinning around. This means that God really answers prayers, which I never believed before."

The Bible Comes to Comic Books
Spider-Man, Superman, and other comic book superheroes are certainly dramatic, but it is nothing compared the action-adventure in the Bible. Now, a comic book company is releasing several Bible stories.
"Dust," a series of 36-page comic books published in Grand Rapids, dramatizes scenes from the Bible, while "Stories of the Saints," a series of 112-page comic books produced in Springfield, Mo., specializes in the amazing tales of Catholic saints.
"Our book is thicker; it's a graphic novel," Greg Chadwell, publisher of the saints series, said. "We'll publish two a year and, with the thicker format, you'll find them on bookstore shelves."
"Dust" is a bimonthly in magazine format. Readers can subscribe to them through the mail and some comic book stores and churches sell them.

GEPCP Keywords are up online
After the "Open BIble Quiz", the pre-season for quizzing is officially here. And now, the keyword list for Galatians Ephesians, Philippians, Collossians, and Philemon is up and ready for your perusal. This is an important way to deepen your studying for Quizzing. When you know a certain word only comes up in a single verse, if you hear that word in a question you always know where you are.

Congratulations to Bible Bowl Champions
Congratulations to the winners of the Kentucky Bible Bowl, a scripture memory contest similar to Bible Quizzing.
10 year olds Alivia Bierly and Colton Thayer are the pride of Tollesboro, Kentucky after winning the recent Bible National Championship in Kansas City.Makes you wonder how we'd all do if we challenged our little brothers and sisters.
The two began competing in the beginner division, and continued to improve once they got to Kansas City.
Most of the competitors in Kansas City were part of 4 person teams from much larger churches, but Colton and Alivia were determined to put Tollesboro on the map.

Pre-season "Open Bible" Quiz
Coach Phil from Clinton Corners has arranged a special pre-season event for Quizzing this year. Trumbull will not be going as a team, but individual quizzers are welcome to attend.
Come on up to Clinton Corners, NY for a fun day of "Open Bible" quizzing August 8th. I am expecting a few who have started learning the material, but the majority will be brand new, so your quizzers who might not have even glanced at the new Scriptures would still do fine. Either way, they would be guaranteed to know Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon much better at the end of the day than at the beginning. The "Open Bible" Quiz structure will allow quizzers to have their Bible or Scripture portion open during the quiz to answer questions, so even if you have not studied at all this summer, it is a chance to start getting a feel for how the game is played.
Quizzers can register as a team of 3-5 (no subs) or individually, or come as individuals to form a team of 3-5 once they get here. All details, including a sample quiz with 20 questions that will all be asked on the 8th, are at www.scripturememorychallenge.org

"Purity Ring" case is lost in the UK
Calvary has hosted the Silver Ring Thing, a program for teens regarding personal purity. The wearing of the ring is intended to be a witness to their pledge. In the United Kingdom, the High Court has ruled that the wearing of the ring is not protected religious expression, and thus high schoolers may be banned from wearing it in school.
Sixteen-year-old Lydia Playfoot claimed the ban at the Millais School in Horsham, West Sussex, was an "unlawful interference" with her right to express her Christian faith.Of course, the United Kingdom does not have the same protections for religious freedom as America.
In a statement she said she was "very disappointed" by the decision by deputy High Court judge Michael Supperstone QC....
She said she believed the ruling "will mean that slowly, over time, people such as school governors, employers, political organisations and others will be allowed to stop Christians from publicly expressing and practising their faith".
